Voltage and Temperature Sensor
The Smart Battery Sense is a wireless battery voltage and temperature sensor for Victron MPPT solar charge controllers.
By measuring directly at the battery terminals, it prevents errors from voltage drops caused by cable resistance. This ensures the correct charging voltage.
Improved Battery Charging
Measuring voltage at the battery bank terminals avoids errors from voltage loss due to cable resistance, ensuring the correct charging voltage.
For lead batteries, temperature data adjusts charging voltages: cold batteries require a higher voltage, while hot batteries need a lower voltage. For lithium batteries, temperature data interrupts charging if batteries are too cold—charging lithium batteries at or below freezing can permanently damage the cells.
No Wiring Required
The connection between Smart Battery Sense and one or more solar charge controllers is wireless. It uses a VE.Smart Network—a wireless technology based on Bluetooth Smart.
The transmitted data can be used simultaneously by one, two or more solar charge controllers connected to the same 12 V, 24 V or 48 V battery bank. The Smart Network is set up via the VictronConnect App.
Neat, Simple – Smart
Installation is quick, tidy and straightforward. Simply attach the device’s cable lugs to the battery terminals and stick the Smart Battery Sense unit directly onto the battery with its adhesive strip.
